- pack of people: a large number of people
- going down the drain: getting worse and worse
- corporation: a large business or organization
- wealthy: rich; having a lot of money and possessions
- substantial sums of money: large amounts of money
- ballot: a piece of paper used to vote in an election
- raffle: a contest that a group or organization uses to earn money, in which people buy numbered tickets in exchange for a chance to win a prize
- raffle ticket: a ticket you buy in the hope of winning a raffle
- slate of candidates: a list of people who are trying to win an election
